Hi All:
Before I begin on the the storyline, I have to start off by saying that next year the actress who plays Ashley Abbott, Eileen Davidson, better be remembered when it is time for the Daytime Emmy’s or I am going to be pretty upset. Although I am not crazy about the storyline becuase I always appreciated her for her ability to handle the men on the business side of things, she is playing the heck out of what she has been given.

Now on the Head Case herself. Ok Ashley, I really feel bad for you. You have Victor hovering over you, confused and trying to understand if you are losing your mind or “hormonal”. Then you have your two-overly protective brothers constantly telling you what you should be doing, mainly eaving Victor, because they don’t like him. There is Adam who is the worst of them all because he made you feel safe although he is the one who is tormenting you. He pushed you down the stairs, made you lose the baby, is spying on you and some how always manages to get away with it. What are you going to do?

No wonder you can’t differentiate between what is real and what is not. No one is being completely upfront with you and the only person you feel you can trust might as well be satan himslef. Not to mention you don’t even know that you have lost your baby yet. Goodness gracious Lady, how much more do the writers think you can stand? I hope they don’t take you back to when you were walking around talking to Robert in a blanket. But it looks like that is where you are headed. What about when you figure out what happened that night on the road, that it wasn’t Sabrina? How will you handle that?

All I can say is that there are days when your lunacy is very intriguing and keeps me on the edge of my seat, then there are times when the screaming drives me insane. Regardless as I said earlier, you are doing a wonderful job with the crazy lady routine! Keep going and the Head Case of the year Emmy better be yours!!

However, now she and Adam have joined forces. She thinks it is so she can get closer to Jack and Adam is using her to get to both Victor and Jack. Now we know that wedding is coming up, hopefully they will show it tomorrow. Adam is already busy getting Mary Jane ready to crash the wedding as none other than Sabrina. These of course are the obvious things that they have shown us.

The not so obvious has been whose death is going to rock the Newman family. For a while I thought it was going to be Casey, Nikki’s sister. This fell in line with the fact that Nikki renewed her contract but was scheduled for a vacation. However, she and Paul took care of that leave of absence by going out of the country to hunt down facts about Mary Jane’s past. Now given the way today’s episode went and the fact that Mary Jane really believes that Kitty is alive, the death has to be that of the beloved Newman four legged friend Zapato. I say this because of the way Mary Jane assured Kitty that everything would be ok and the dog would never terrorize her again. I mean come on, she has already been betrayed by Victor and Jack doesn’t want her, Kitty is all she has.

Now in my opinion the writers over there at CBS are treading on thin ice. While I don’t personally mind because I have no problem separating what’s real and what’s not. I think there will be some viewers who are going to raise a stink about the pretend death of a dog that probably lives better than most of us. They are completely entitled too, there is something that all of us do not like to see on TV real or fake. I just know that some of us are going to be like, it was one thing when Adam made Ashley fall down the steps, another when MJ poisoned Summer, and let’s not even mention the Rafe and Phillip story line, but Old Yeller, now they have just gone too darn far. Even though I am positive that the dog will remain unharmed.

I guess Mary Jane can’t keep her word to anyone. She told Victor she could handle Jack and messed that up. Now she is breaking her promise to Kitty and the bird by going after the dog. Jeez the taxidermist must love to see her coming.

This is just my opinion and is subject to being wrong, we will just have to watch and see!

Some of the rumors that I have heard is that she and Victor plan on tying the knot sooner rather than later. Some say Adam and Mary Jane have a huge wedding gift in store for her (note how similar MJ’s stature is to Sabrina’s:)) also that a Newman is going to die. Who could it be? Had I heard the rumor any sooner I still do not believe that it would be Summer, just doesn’t seem right, especially since this little girl just got the job. However what about one of the other Newman children? Abby has been gone for a long time? Could it be her? Perhaps Noah? That would be terrible to take away two of Sharon’s children. However it would almost cement her need to tell the truth about the baby she is carrying? Or will they just let history repeat itself and knock off Ashley and the Baby?

Were it Abby, how would Victor and Ashely move forward? Speaking of Abby and family, shouldn’t Colleen be set to return as well. I wonder where she has been, what she has been doing and how it will affect her seat on the Newman board?

While there has been a lot going on there are still a lot of story lines that are being left out. For instance, when will we find out what is going on with Lily’s health? I’ve heard everything from pregnant to Cervical or Ovarian cancer. When she finds out what is wrong, will this bring her and Cane back together? Will it bring Dru back from the dead and Malcolm back from Criminal Minds?

What about the fact that Gloria and Jeff have been quiet for some time as well. We know they are running out of money so I am sure that they’re secretly up to something.

While I have been enjoying the current drama quite a bit, I don’t think I would mind a quick visit to some of the other stories. Who knows, perhaps this week?

Also, anyone think Deacon is sick enough to kill Amber. Did anyone ever pay any attention to the fact that Victor had missed a payment on MJ’s room? Do you think he could lose his family and his fortune? When will Paul and Nikki tie the knot or is wedded bliss slowly slipping out of their reach?

Right now the cards are stacking against Victor. In my opinion he stands to lose all that love him. If/when he does what will this do to one of the strongest, most powerful men of Genoa City? Think about it, we all know that his kryptonite is the loss of his loved ones. We saw this first hand with the death of Sabrina and his unborn child. So will the Mustache be able to rebound once he finds out that Ashley too lost their baby?

How will he react when he finds out that the child’s death was at the hand of his vindictive son Adam? In just that scenario alone he has lost two family members. Now we also know that the Newman’s will band together for any crisis. However, we now have Paul on the scent of Mary Jane and when he is focused he get’s the job done. She has attacked his soon to be grand-daughter, so I am sure he is fully motivated to seek out the truth about her identity. How will Nikki, Victoria, Phyllis and most importantly Nick react when they figure out that Mary Jane is there because of him? Will it not feel like the ultimate betrayal to know that your father is ultimately responsible for the near death of your daughter? That his need for revenge and payback put a psychopath right in the mix of your family?

Let’s not forget that she still wants to deal with Sharon, who might as well be one of his daughter’s. Once she goes after her, will Noah be able to look past the fact that the nut job was there to do Victor’s dirty work? Not to mention that the child is not Jack’s but Nick’s. So again she will be attacking the Newman’s and not the Abbott’s. Add into the batter that Paul and Nikki are set to get married and Mary Jane is actually his sister. So he will be losing a life long friend as well. Victor what have you done? Oh yes, when Ashley finds out that you did all of this to set up her brother after she begged you to move past your animosity?

All I can say is that right now for Victor it looks like all roads point to hell. I see another breakdown in his future. The difference this time being that he won’t be in a position to cut his family off and turn his back on them, instead the shoe will be on the other foot. Can you blame them?

Will the great Victor Newman be able to undo what he has done to his own family? Will the Great Tower of Newman Finally Fall? He might want to call Estella back, she might be the only friend he will have left.

Ok as avid watchers of The Young and The Restless it is time we move passed the fact that Chris Engen decided to leave and focus on the fact that Adam is bustin’ a move on Rafe!

So Adam decides that the best way to cover his tracks is to make a move on GC’s gay attorney. Well, well, well how is dear old Dad going to react when he hears the giggles coming from Adam’s room and figures out that it is not Heather, but Rafe? I’m sure both he and Ashley will be stuck shaking their heads. Hopefully it will trigger some suspicion and make them take heed to Nikki’s warning about his character and intentions.

After Rafe’s initial response to Adam, he calls him to let him know that he too has feelings for Adam. What? Where did this come from? Rafe should be smart enough to know that Adam is pulling the wool over his eyes. Did it not seem odd to Rafe that Adam expressed these desires just as he was revealing the fact that he thought he was responsible for “gaslighting” Ashley? That he was somehow responsible for Estella being framed.

What about his dear old aunt? You mean to tell me that just the thought of Adam was enough to make him drop his suspicions and forget about protecting her name? Jeez, Adam must be the man if he has that kind of appeal. New Adam or old, I didn’t think either of them had it going on like that. What about you?

What in the world is Heather going to do when she finds out that she is going to be dumped for a man? Hopefully she will become so bitter and enraged that she sets her sights on Adam instead of Jana and Estella.

Adam is just all over the place now. Lately his moves have been too desperate and erratic, I hope that he is caught soon. Before he has to put the moves on Estella! Dios Mio!

Let’s hope that Rafe is just playing along to get close enough to Adam to bust him. However I have a feeling this is not going to be the case.

Below is Chris Engen’s side of the story as to why he was leaving The Young and The Restless. This is a post found on Chris’ myspace blog that includes some apologies and some explanations.

CHRIS ENGEN – STATEMENT TO THE PUBLIC

Good Day. This is the first time in my life that I address an audience so vast and varied. There are a number of heated topics that have become entwined with my recent decision to quit my job, and I feel there are a number of truths that deserve to be stated, a number of untruths that deserve to be rectified, and a few of my own ideas that, by way of circumstance, I am compelled to inject into the debate. This is the only statement I intend to make regarding this subject. I would like first to apologize, as I feel I owe a great many of you at least that. I know that a choice like this appears weak and impulsive. Honestly, it was the last thing I ever thought I’d do – the absolute LAST thing I ever wanted.

The job has been a great challenge, and my hat is off to all my fellow actors who have mastered it so gracefully. I know a great many of you have endured far worse than what you perceive to have been my circumstance, but I do not believe that just because you have suffered a particular injustice, so too must everyone else in order to understand that injustice. I want to apologize to any of my fellow actors who I may have disappointed. I would also like to apologize to those of you who feel slighted by this choice, as I have been branded a “homophobe” by several members of the press. This is, of course, absurd and many of my dearest friends are homosexuals who would be more than happy to speak on my behalf. My decision had nothing to do with religion, or anything I learned at Bishop Montgomery High School. Bishop is a great institution of learning that encourages tolerance and acceptance of others. I do not ascribe to any one religious ideology but do value the truth that exists in them all. I think the unfortunate assumption that has been made is that Catholics are intolerant of homosexuals on the basis of their Catholicism. Intolerance of anything is a product of one’s underlying belief system as an experience of limitation. It is the line we intellectually draw within ourselves that prevents us from understanding those things we reject, because it defines the boundaries of who we are as individuals. We are what we are, but we are also NOT what we are not. Intolerance is a natural reaction that, I believe, we must understand in order to defeat. It is not a fire to be stomped out by an angry foot or extinguished by a inundating stream of media exposure. Homosexuality is a quality of beingness: one of many qualities that make up the rich diversity that humanity expresses.

True — I was not comfortable with many of the challenges they presented before me, but I put my head down and did my job. The fact that I had an opportunity as ostensibly attractive and lucrative as this, particularly in difficult economic times and with so many talented actors and industry professionals out of work was, of course, more than reason enough to be grateful. I considered it part of the challenge and within my job description to do the best with whatever storyline was being written for me, as I was very fortunate to be getting a storyline in the first place. I understand that the writers have a very difficult task. They accomplish more in a week than what other shows do in over a month. I never stormed off the set, nor have I stormed off any set in my 18 years of struggle as an artist. I felt generally unhappy about my contribution to the show, and had greater and greater difficulty making any sense of the challenges they were asking me to face. If that makes me a limited actor, then so be it. I was allowed ONE meeting with Maria Bell, and I called in sick ONCE in my 16 months on the show. In the end, I didn’t feel that decisions were being made in my best interests, personally or professionally.

I learned a great deal in my time there and I am eternally grateful for the challenges that enriched me as an artist and as a man. As a single father, with sole custody of a 10 year-old boy, this was neither a practical decision, nor was it an easy decision to make. I believe that as an actor, and as a human being, I deserve better than to be forced to do something that I don’t feel is right on many levels, and that should have nothing to do with the choices that other people make. My visage and my craft were being utilized to tell a story that I wasn’t inspired to tell. I have a great deal of respect for the show in general and all those hard-working people who make it possible, and it is out of respect for them and a sense of duty toward them that I asked to be removed from my duties. I know this doesn’t conform to contract stipulations and it is regrettable that my personal feelings came into conflict with that precedent, although I don’t think that would have ever been the case if what was being requested of me was not unprecedented. Ultimately, the producers were very understanding and amenable and I, in fact, worked until they told me they didn’t need me anymore. I am sure that more of my colleagues would speak on my behalf if they too weren’t afraid of the possible consequences, and I don’t blame them for that. It has been a difficult journey for me, and many others, on the road to understanding the nature of artistry and what it takes to succeed. Strength is measured by what we are willing to stand for, not by what we are willing to lie down and take. I want to thank everyone who has voiced such tremendous support and encouragement.
